THE WHISKERS
PRESS
For War of Currents:
In a nutshell: it's a masterclass in epic songwriting... The Whiskers never bore or jar by dropping in unnecessary movements; always unifying their songs with a strong riff or chord progression.
For The Distorted Historian:
Best song of 2008 ("Cogs") - Bizarre Love Triangles
8th best album of 2008 - Said the Gramophone
33rd best album of 2008 - An Inside Out Sock
Rumour has it The Whiskers were formed when, in that grand old traditional rock n roll way, a group of young men met on an internet message board. This may be true or it may be false, what i know for sure is The Distorted Historian, the second LP from the band, is a fantastically edgy modern record that's been all over my record player since its release earlier in 2008.
The Whiskers have made an album of grey gorgeous leaves and giant wood panels, slowly spinning and fanning. Of pulses and dreams and night swims, and horrible terrible tangible imagery. You can dance yourself to death, you can duck the giant swinging boom, or you can fall asleep to the sounds of someone crooning their heart inside out. It's a beautiful thing.
